All the hype around AI like Devin isn't all true. AI helps but can't replace us yet. Here's why I think so with data and facts.
I am not entirely against AI replacing a job, I have been working towards the same goal, who doesn't have an imagination of replace their day job with a robots, so they can sit in a beach and enjoy the sunset?
But we need to come back to reality after reading all the hyped sci-fi novels on these AI replacing employees. It's important to go beyond marketing and hype.
AI can surely replace all the repetitive tasks and any menial tasks, it can increase our performance and precision in critical fields, but it's not going to replace YOU if your day job requires you to have intelligence beyond just data. You will still lead and AI will follow. Here's why I said so.
Prevision vs. Autonomy:
AI, including robotics in surgery or data analysis tools, excels in precision and repetitive tasks. They can outperform humans in a well-defined tasks. They operate within the scope of the historical data that's available. But human mind is more complex and has more data than what is available online. This is where AIs will fall short of data to be entirely autonomous.
Decision-making and AI:
AI will help with decision-making by providing data-driven insights, but they rely heavily on past data and statistical models. They are limited by biases and scope of their algorithms. Humans goes beyond raw data when making a decision. Ethical considerations, long-term implications, and emotional intelligence. AI falls short here.
Adaptability and Learning:
AI can adapt to new data to certain extent, but still not equivalent to human learning, humans can apply learning from one context to another easily, by connecting the dots, called transfer learning, and AI struggles there. Humans can think abstractly and creatively, stepping "outside the box", but all the generative AI write now is a just a copy of a copy of a copy of the past data.
Ethics and Responsibility:
AI can't be held accountable, and the makers can get away with a small penalty, in any critical fields, it is important that humans are the one who makes the final decisions, so they can be held responsible for any ethical implications.
No we are not there yet until we transfer the data in the corners of our mind into a machine.
